USA Launches New Unprovoked Attack on Iran
The U.S. military is bombing Iran again tonight. Donald Trump confirmed fresh strikes would come earlier today. CENTCOM has now confirmed what it calls “self-defence strikes”, self defence is not the situation here. Not only has the USA broken a ceasefire, the attack is entirely unprompted, and was premeditated in statements by both the U.S. President and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
When the U.S. Defense Secretary was asked about negotiations, he was at least honest: “If we need to negotiate with bombs, we’ll negotiate with bombs.” It is the most accurate summary of U.S. policy since February 28. The USA has launched attacks at every stage of negotiations, tonight being just the latest example of the behaviour.
Yesterday’s strikes were presented as retaliation for the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, a claim the regime has not substantiated, and which ignores that the helicopter was operating in contested airspace. Whatever credibility that pretext ever had, tonight erases it.
Confirmed targets so far in tonight’s wave include Sirik naval base, struck by U.S. Navy warships in the Gulf of Oman, Qeshm Island, and at least three strikes near Bandar Abbas. Air defense systems have been activated in western Tehran, Lorestan, and Asaluyeh. A strike has also been reported approximately 5km from the outskirts of Minab.
Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian says the country will stand firm. Iran’s foreign ministry has described U.S. conduct throughout the ceasefire period as “contradictory messages, repeated shifts in position, and continual violations.” A response is expected.
Mehr News Agency confirms clashes at sea have taken place between Iranian and American forces. Preliminary reports of explosions on Hengam Island, southern Iran. Iranian TV reports five missiles struck a location within Minab city limits, likely an IRGC or government installation. A cruise missile has been intercepted in Asaluyeh, Bushehr Province, per Iranian state television. Iranian fighter jets are carrying out patrols over Tehran. Bandar Kargan naval base in Bushehr has been struck.
A U.S. radar in Erbil has been targeted by the IRGC, per Sputnik.
Yemen’s Ansarallah foreign ministry has warned the U.S. that continued aggression against Iran will have serious consequences for supply chains, international trade, and oil and energy markets, demanding the regime cease its attacks on Iran. The statement signals a potential Houthi re-entry into the conflict.
Iraqi outlet Al Malooumah claims the U.S. radar in Erbil has been destroyed, this is the second outlet to report on the attack on the radar.
Bandar Abbas airport has been hit by a projectile. Renewed explosions reported in or around Qeshm Island, per Tasnim.
Explosions heard again in Bandar Abbas. Yedioth Ahronoth reports one U.S. ship has suffered severe damage, type and name not yet disclosed. The IRGC has issued a statement confirming it fired a missile at a U.S. F-16C Fighting Falcon after it violated Persian Gulf airspace, stating the jet fled.
Donald Trump has told Fox News that he will “bomb the shit out of Iran” tomorrow also.
Israeli outlet Yedioth Ahronoth reports a U.S. warship may have been hit in the Strait of Hormuz, though this remains unconfirmed.
Trump has claimed Iranian officials directly asked him to stop the bombing campaign. Iran’s IRIB has called the claim ‘preposterous’, stating no Iranian official has contacted Trump.
Explosions heard in Pishva, Qarchak, and Tehran, per Mehr Agency. U.S. strikes confirmed on Karaj, Iran. CENTCOM has issued a statement confirming additional strikes on June 10, targeting Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defence sites across Iran, using U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets.
Iranian ballistic missile launches reported. Interceptors launched over Irbid, Jordan. Unconfirmed reports of impacts at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Air defence activity visible over Amman.
CENTCOM posted a ‘fact check’ claiming the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping. The regime does not control the Strait, which lies within Iranian and Omani territorial waters. Its account of what passes through it carries no legal authority.
This is a developing story, we will update this piece throughout the night.
