Netanyahu Orders the IDF Seize of 70% of Gaza
The prime minister of the Israeli regime told Israel’s Channel 12: “We now control 60 percent of the territory in the strip. You know, we were at 50, we moved to 60. My directive is to move to 70 percent.”
Under the US-brokered ceasefire that took effect in October, the Israeli military was supposed to withdraw to the “Yellow Line” outlined in the agreement, leaving it in control of roughly 53 percent of Gaza. It was immediately observed that Israel did not move back to the Yellow Line, with early reports showing that Israel had moved the barriers that marked where the ceasefire was in effect.
In recent months, Israeli leaders have been open about taking more territory than previously allowed, with the 60% figure cited by Netanyahu today becoming a common talking point.
It’s not only territorial losses that Gaza has had to face in silence, but also a continuation of the same bombardment that the ceasefire falsely claimed to bring to an end, with a specific Israeli campaign targeting police officers in the Gaza Strip.
The demand to seize more of Gaza comes at a time when Israel is pushing further into Lebanon and forcibly displacing people from over 14% of the country to their northern border.
It seems there is just no end to the territorial ambition of the Israeli regime, and unlike expansionist regimes in history, this one has most of the world’s media repeating the lies that justify the territorial expansion.
