ICE Arrest in Fitchburg Gives Father Seizure While Police Stand By
A two-hour standoff between residents and ICE agents in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, ended in tragic scenes as video footage shows a father having a seizure while ICE thugs continued their attempts to drag him out of his car. The disgusting nature of these ICE arrests is perhaps more clear than ever in this video, as neither the seizure, nor the fact that his baby is in his hands while he convulses, stops Trump’s goons from attacking the man. His wife, reportedly the target of the raid, was taken into custody as he lay motionless beside their baby.
According to witnesses, ICE arrived early in the morning and surrounded the home. Neighbours quickly gathered, recording what became a tense and deeply disturbing confrontation. Shouts for medical help can be heard in several clips circulating online, with bystanders begging officers to step in. Instead, Fitchburg police, who had been called to “assist” the federal agents, stood aside as ICE continued their arrests, even holding well meaning citizens at bay.
The Police officer at the scene is an accomplice to the crime, that is hardly up for debate here.
In the video attached above, the man appears to seize violently while clutching his child. No agent steps in to check on his health. Throughout all of the videos online, no ambulance appears in frame. Moments later, ICE agents haul the mother away as her husband remains on the pavement. The baby is eventually taken from his arms by a bystander.
Local media have so far sanitised the event. WCVB described it as a “hostile ICE arrest” and quoted police as saying they were there “to keep the peace.” Not a word about the seizure, the child, or the lack of medical response. The federal agency has not issued a statement.
This is a pattern, ICE agents operate with near-total impunity, and local police departments, even those who claim not to “enforce immigration law,” continue to enable them.
Trump’s fascism does not stop to think about the health of the poeple at the mercy of ICE thugs. The racism of the regime comes first, that is clear.
The health status of the man is currently unknown. What is clear is that a federal agency carried out an operation so brutal that a father’s body gave out, and the officers beside him did nothing.
